A Stunning Pointillists Landscape Scene in the Creuze Region by French Painter Lucien Neuquelman.
Born in Paris (1909 – 1988), Lucien Neuquelman was drawn to painting from a very young age and showed artistic abilities that would later be confirmed.
He enrolled in the School of Fine Arts in Toulon, where he met Othon Friesz, who became his teacher but turned into a friend and stayed a mentor to him for the rest of his career.
He then joined the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and became familiar with new techniques.
From 1930 onwards, he participated in the creation of designs for Lyon silk manufacturers.
A solo exhibition, featuring a large number of his works, was presented in 1945 by a Parisian gallery.

A landscape painter, he depicted Normandy and Brittany many times, but also other French regions that offered him panoramas worthy of his inspiration.
By adopting the pointillist technique, Neuquelman did not choose the easy path.
It is a technique that many famous painters (including Pissarro) tried without continuing.
The association of judiciously placed dots of color makes our eye work, recreating the image as the artist imagined it.
For this work, representing a landscape of the Creuse, the painter chose to use the warm tones of his palette, while adding sharp touches of blue that stand out and give incredible relief as well as depth.
The diversity in the size of the brushstrokes is striking.
Sometimes broad and thick, or conversely, fine and close together.
This alternation demonstrates the precision and mastery necessary for the composition of such a work.
