A Vibrant Oil on Canvas of a Cottage by French Painter Louis Jacques Vigon.
Vigon was born in 1897, during his parents’ trip to Normandy.
He spent most of his childhood in Rouen, where he remained for the rest of his life, with the exception of a few trips.
Demonstrating artistic talent at a very early age, he enrolled at the Rouen School of Fine Arts in 1911 and remained there until the outbreak of World War II in 1914.
To pursue his passion, Vigon became a theater designer, achieving some success in this field.
At the same time, he exhibited in regional galleries and exhibitions, receiving several awards that opened the doors to Parisian exhibitions.
He notably exhibited in Paris at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and was awarded the Jean Revel Prize by the city of Rouen.
A Post-Impressionist painter, he combined the techniques of his illustrious predecessors with a touch of luminism and great sensitivity. A landscape artist by nature, he always brings great realism and depth to his compositions, which convey a sense of restful tranquility.
Playing with shadows and light, Vignon invites us to follow him into the soothing intimacy of this farmyard.
Pure colors are applied side by side to create contrast and depth. The brushstrokes are quick and lively, with no second thoughts. The artist knows what he wants and creates his work in a single breath, from the very first attempt.
