Adrianus Cornelis van Noort, also known as Arie, was born in Bennebroek, the Netherlands in 1914.
Artistically gifted, he initially worked with his father as a house painter, but always kept his goal of becoming an artist.
In the evenings he studied and painted hoping to achieve his dream.
He began his artistic career with studies under Henri Fréderic Boot, a famous artist from Haarlem and studied the great masters of impressionism, a prominent force in all of his paintings.
Van Noort participated in several exhibitions organized at the end of the 40’s in the Frans Halsmuseum, Het Huis van Looy in the Waaggebouw.
In 1942 he was accepted as a member of the society “Kunst zij ons Doel”.
Being an on-sight painter, mostly executing works of the beaches of Holland nearby his house, we can admire the great use of light and contrast, always feeling the mood of the day from which he painted with each piece vibrating with energy and movement.
This was his main objective, to gather the inspiration and feeling of the moment, and translate this into his canvases.
It took time for Van Noort to build his career as an artist, and in 1977 he finally attained a recognized status with regular demands for his paintings.
Several exhibitions followed, including in Paris and Geneva, all of which were well received by the public.
Soon he gained interest in the US and sold several works there.
Van Nort was the last representative of The Hague School as an impressionist painter in the French line.
He passed away in 2003. His son also a painter went on to adopt a similar style.

The windy atmosphere is palpable; clouds roll in a threatening sky that flows into a rough sea, revealing whitewashed waves of foam.
With a few judicious touches of color, expertly organized, the artist creates incredible relief effects; the sand, the sea, and the sky come to life.
His Impressionist touch reveals the multidirectional brushstrokes that give these paintings depth.
